HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

010 Light Beige

Catrice recently made changes to this popular formula, as they added niacinamide. Sadly, I didn’t get that version, instead I got old one, so I can’t tell you whether the new one is really the same/improved as they claim (comparison video on their IG). I actually already have this foundation from when it first launched years ago and in this shade, which was the original lightest one, they’ve since expanded their range considerably (availability of shades varies per country). It’s too dark for me, but luckily it’s neutral, so it doesn’t look orange, still in all the years I’ve had it, I barely used it. It’s very popular and I can see why, but I’ve never been a big fan of it. I’ve grown to like it more, since I’ve changed up my skin care routine and it started performing better, but even though I love how light it is and the lovely satin finish it has, it just makes my pores look so obvious. It looks a bit better with their Blur primer, but compared to Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless, it’s just not a good smoothing formula on my skin. Texture is very liquid and fast drying, so I apply it with my big oval brush, otherwise it looks uneven on me due to the dark shade. Foundation is heavily scented with a baby power-like scent.

Texture: Very liquid and light. It’s a fast drying formula.

Coverage: Medium. My dark freckles are visible and it needs a layer of concealer under my eyes, on redness and on spots.

Finish: Satin mat. It emphasizes pores (or at least has no pore-filling/blurring abilities).

Staying power: Lasts most of the day without powder.

Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer

Under-eye circles, blemishes and redness on the face are a thing of the past – the Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer offers long-lasting coverage for up to 12h and even covers tattoos. The concealer is highly pigmented, waterproof and transferproof. The liquid texture is also free of silicones and microplastic particles.

Another product I already have, but in the previous packaging and a different shade (005). I also was never a big fan of this concealer. It’s too heavy-looking for my taste because it’s so matte when it sets (it’s freshly applied on my pictures) and I prefer more hydrating formulas. In particular I don’t like it over spots because it makes it look cakey. Coverage is medium-high, it may need an extra layer to get everything covered. I know many love it, but from super cheap stuff I’d pick Essence’s Camouflage+ Healthy Glow Concealer every time. Liquid Camouflage Concealer is heavily scented with a floral scent.

Texture: Light for a high coverage formula. It’s very liquid and quite thin.

Coverage: Medium-full. Conceals my under eye circles and redness on the sides of the nose. Spots need two layers.

Finish: Mat. Emphasizes texture.

Staying power: Lasts most of the day without powder.

The Perfector Poreless Blur Primer

Selfie Ready. Instant soft focus effect for a smooth, visibly pore-free complexion. The light mousse primer prepares the skin for the application of foundation and makes it last longer.

And I already have this too in the previous packaging. The difference between the old and new is only the added niacinamide. The old one feels a bit thicker when I squeeze it out of the tube, but they apply exactly the same and do the same. It’s a thick silicone-y formula that is insanely prone to pilling, so it needs to be applied carefully, a small amount at a time and slowly dragging it towards the edges of the face. While it’s tinted, which theoretically should help blur the pores also if you don’t wear a foundation over it, there’s no major difference that I can see. The small visible difference to the pores it makes is on account of mattifying. It’s a bit better with a foundation, but it’s not what I expected. It’s the same as the previous version, so its effect hasn’t improved and it’s still fickly to apply. Finish is completely matte, so I find it better as a mattifying primer rather than a blurring one. So far Revlon’s one is the best pore blurring primer I’ve found, but even that one isn’t exceptional. Catrice’s Blur primer has a musty scent.

Ingredients: dimethicone, cetearyl dimethicone crosspolymer, tapioca starch, niacinamide, aqua (water), decylene glycol, polymethyl silsesquioxane, bht, silica, triethoxycaprylylsilane, phenoxyethanol, ci 77491 (iron oxides), ci 77492 (iron oxides), ci 77891 (titanium dioxide).

The Mattifier Oil-Control Primer

The ideal preparation for shine-free looks. The Pore Refining And Anti-Shine Base minimizes unwanted shine and visibly refines your pores. The ultra-light formula also improves the durability of make-up. A true beauty perfectionist.

As far as mattifying primers go, Catrice’s Blur version is more effective than this, while this one feels more like a hydrating base on my dry skin. It don’t feel as much silicones in this one, but it’s not like a proper nourishing moisturiser and it still creates a good, smooth base. My skin isn’t oily at all, in fact I tested its mattifying ability by using an oily skin care product before and this did the job ok, but like I said, the Blur primer has a better dry-to-the-touch, velvety matte feel to it. Oil Control primer has no noticeable scent.

Glow Lovely Oil-Infused Highlighter

The one impressive product from this update from the ones I’ve tried. It’s not an intense highlighter, actually in a light coat it works as a luminous finishing powder and that’s because the shimmer in this is very fine. It’s completely different than their tightly pressed, super glowy More than Glow highlighters – this is much more subtle and it reminds me of the first shade in their Luminice palette. I really like this one on the skin because the glow looks so natural, not over the top and not obviously shimmery under sunlight. Plus it doesn’t emphasise pores. The glow is a white shimmery one, so neutral and the shade is quite pale, but I’m not sure if it may look ashy on darker skin tones because of that. Formula is very loose, so when I swipe a brush over it, there’s so much powder going everywhere, but that just bothers the neat person in me that wants all makeup to stay forever pretty. Even if you have a lot of highlighters, this one is a bit special because of that fine shimmer.

PRO Slim Eyeshadow Palette

Hint of Mint

The shades are ideally colour-coordinated and you can create various styles thanks to the metallic, shimmering and matte finishes

First impressions of this one were terrible. Catrice has a tendency to the same type of eyeshadows, which I’m so bored of and I’m just waiting for them to make the step forward. The shimmers are typically for Catrice tightly pressed and at first the brush did not pick up anything. But then I swatched it for the pictures, broke through the top layer and it got considerably better. Mattes are traditional nice – good level of pigmentation, smooth, easy to pick with any type of brush and build up on the eyes. The only complaints I have is that they take longer to blend than Colourpop’s. There’s a good collection of neutral brown-taupe-ish shades for defining the eye and for this alone this is a decent palette on a budget to have if you have no such shades yet in the collection. Matte pale mint green shade is the interesting shade in this palette and it’s actually very decent. Still for a great intensity a white base is needed, something like Nyx’s Milk pencil. Shimmers, like I said before, are that creamy, tightly pressed texture that isn’t easy to pick up with a brush. I can only do it with Mac’s 239 or an eyeliner brush, but it’s overall better to use fingers. The copper-gold Charm in particular is disappointing, neither is Dazzling blowing me away with its quality, while Frost, Spectacle and Lagoon are easier to work with. Snazzy isn’t a true shimmer, it’s more of a satin shade with some shimmer and it’s not as impressive as the other two dark brown shades in the palette in terms of pigmentation. There is fall down while applying these and during the day the shimmer migrates down the cheeks. Staying power is ok, but I’ve noticed some creasing, which considering few eyeshadows crease on my non-oily eyelids, might mean they don’t perform well without a base on oily eyelids.

Maxx it Volume Mascara

The MAX IT Volume & Length Mascara provides maximum volume and extraordinary length thanks to an innovative combination of the brush and texture. The special brush has both long and short, soft bristles that reach every single lash. At the same time, the Instant Volume texture is enriched with cellulose fibres that create a lash-lengthening effect. In addition, the formula nourishes the lashes with shea butter.

This has a major pet peeve for me – it’s kind of oily or never really dries, so it consistently makes my glasses dirty. It’s insufferable to wear. However, since almost none of you experience the problem of their lashes touching glasses, this is entirely irrelevant to you and all you need to know is that the effect of it is actually nice. It’s one of those Catrice mascaras that can create big, voluminous and longer lashes quickly. It’s a formula for those who want it all and don’t hold back when applying a mascara, expecting a bold look. It has a big silicone brush that defines and deposits a good amount of product, while the formula itself is not messy. It has no curl holding ability, but it’s not heavy on the lashes. Despite that smudging on the glasses, this one didn’t smudge around my eyes, but there is some fall down.

On Point Brow Liner

020 Medium Brown

The brush of the Brow Definer Brush Pen Longlasting has a very fine and a flat, broad side made of soft synthetic bristles. This makes it easy and extremely accurate to fill in the brows and style them into your personal favourite shape.

That I do nothing with my eyebrows has been established every time I get something for them in the PR boxes, so my reviews of brow stuff is more or less pointless. This is a felt tip liner for precision strokes. Strength of pigment is low at this product, it’s not like I’ve seen it on their swatches and it’s also the type of product that loses pigment quickly, especially in contact with foundation, so there’s a constant need of reviving it – meaning drawing a couple of strokes on the back of the hand to remove foundation or other products from the tip. I haven’t been able to draw thin lines with this, there’s simply nothing right on the tip of the applicator, so the only colour I get it more on the base of the applicator. I don’t find this is useful as a pen for drawing eyebrows, only for filling them in. I have a shade 020 Medium Brown which is very light, almost a greenish brown that I think would suit dark blonde hair or even lighter because it’s quite sheer.

Wild Hibiscus Glow Lip Balm

010 Hawaiian Blossom Glow

The Wild Hibiscus Glow Lip Balm ensures soft lips and gives them a natural and radiant finish. The formula nourishes with cranberry and hibiscus oil, the texture of the lip balm reacts to the individual pH value of the lips and gives them a slight tint.

This is exactly the same as the Watermelon version I have from before. The latter is my favourite tinted lip balm that also stains the lips based on your pH levels. Colour is pink on the lips, so Watermelon and this one look very alike on me. Both formulas are good lip balms that are nourishing and can hold on for a while on the lips. Because they are caring, the stain you get on the lips, is more even and doesn’t get caught just on dry patches, so it looks much better than similar products I’ve tried when this the balm layer wears off. The third version I used to have, Peppermint Berry Glow Lip Balm, contains menthol and tingles on the lips, but it also was not as good as Watermelon. These are a lovely buy if you want something that stains. This shade has a faint sweet scent.

Drunk’n Diamonds Plumping Lip Balm

010 Guilty Treasure

The Drunk’n Diamonds Plumping Lip Balm leaves the lips looking soft and nourished, has a plumping effect and adds a hint of colour with a natural, radiant finish and a glitter effect. The caring, hydrating texture is enriched with vitamin E, mango butter and Volulip™ by Sederma and is coated with sparkling diamond-like glitter particles.

This look gorgeous in the packaging, but don’t let the glittery casing deceive you. It’s clear with one coat and if you build it up, it’s kind of like a restraint version of those Pearly Shine Labello’s (Nivea) lip balm we wore in school a while ago and was our first “lipstick”. It has frost, but it’s not that obviously frosty. As a lip balm it’s basic, so neither super nourishing, but it also doesn’t just disappear from the lips in minutes. This has a watermelon scent. Two more shades exist.

Better than Fake Lips Volume Gloss

010 Maximum Glow & 040 Volumising Rose

Fuller looking lips with a glossy finish are not a problem for the Better Than Fake Lips Volume Gloss! The silky soft lipgloss texture with medium coverage has a plumping effect and nourishes the lips with a butter complex, a vegan collagen replacement and Volulip™ by Sederma. The lipgloss feels pleasant on the lips and isn’t sticky.

Based on the name I expected one of those minty glosses that sting, but Catrice made these a regular formula. It’s a basic lip gloss, nothing more to say. It’s not as nice as their discontinued Dewy-full or Powerfull 5 Liquid Lip Balm (not sure if there are still sold, but they are a nice drugstore buy), meaning it’s not as balmy. This disappears from the lips completely in about an hour or two and after my lips feel unnourished. Catrice is general pretty nice when it comes to their glosses, but this feels like a step back. In terms of extra volume – it’s a gloss, so obviously the lips look more plump, but nothing special compared to other glosses. Shade 010 Maximum Glow is a clear gloss with shimmer and 040 Volumising Rose is a creamy light pink that looks very sheer on the lips, but there is some colour. These have a faint sweet floral scent.

Volumizing Extreme Lip Booster

040 Trick or Treat

The Volumizing Extreme Lipgloss visibly creates extra voluminous, plumped up lips and gives them a cooling, tingling, sour feeling thanks to yuzu extract, lime oil and menthol. The glitter particles in the translucent gloss create a shimmering finish with maximum shine.

There were already 3 versions of these before this green one. I got to try the mint green one and while I’m no big fan of such tingly products, I like this more than that one. This one smells pretty, like lemon sweets, but tastes sour in plastic way, so not a fan of that (I only noticed that when I intentionally licked freshly applied lips, otherwise I didn’t even know about this for the first few days). Tingling is moderate-to strong (after trying that Essence What the Fake gloss, everything pales in comparison, but this isn’t mild, especially if the lips are dry) and there’s a strong cooling effect for the first 15-20 minutes. The tint is slightly green. Aside from that it’s a basic gloss, not particularly nourishing for such a formula and not very glossy. It lasts about an hour.

Nail Repair Nail Building Base Coat

The Nail Repair Nail Building Base Coat unites a base coat and a nail treatment in one product. The base coat strengthens the nails, makes them look healthier and ensures longer natural nail growth. According to an external study, the base coat leads to 84% harder, stronger and more resilient nails and 86% less brittle as well as better looking nails. (* Self-assessment of 50 women who applied the polish on their natural nails twice a week for 3 weeks.) After applying the Nail Repair Nail Building Base Coat, you can apply a colour nail polish on top. The base coat gives the colour polish a smoother finish that lasts longer. At the same time, the nails are nourished and strengthened.

A clear nail polish base coat or stand-alone nail polish that Catrice say it contains ingredients that make nail stronger. My nails are already strong, so I won’t be able to test this for its efficiency. As a base coat it’s pretty standard at application. It dried fast and made a nice base for a coloured nail polish. However, the combination of this + coloured nail polish I know lasts well + Maxi Top Coat was unbelievably short-lived. My nail polish was peeling in chunks and I highly suspect it was this base because it behaved almost like a peel-off nail polish. So I wouldn’t wear this under coloured nail polishes, but as a stand-alone clear polish for nail repair and reapply it often.

Maxi Stay Gel Top Coat

The Maxi Stay Gel Top Coat extends the durability of your Catrice nail styling for up to 10 days.* The transparent top coat provides a high gel finish as well as a plumping effect, protects the nails and makes them extremely resilient. For a super long-lasting look, apply a base coat before the colour polish and then a top coat. With the Maxi Stay Gel Top Coat, every nail art is sure to last a long time.

This boldly states it can help the nail polish last up to 10 days, which on me most nail polishes already do (with Seche Vite on top), so I thought this will be a pointless test. But like I said above my nail polish started peeling off by day 5 and by day 8 there was barely anything left – I’ve never experienced such peeling in chunks. Ironically I wore their ICONAILS Gel Lacquer before this in the shade 88 and it lasted about 2 weeks with zero chips. I was annoyed I need to do something with my nails in less than two weeks (strong nails made me lazy). Like I said their Nail Repair base could be the reason, I know it’s not Pupa nail polishes because I’ve used them before. I was planning on using this without Nail Repair, but I ended up using Seche Vite again just because I trust it. Otherwise it was an ok topper in terms of how quickly the nail polish dried. It’s not as quick as Seche Vite, but ok.
