Deliveroo had more than 11,000 grocery partner sites live globally at the end of the year, the company has revealed.

In the UK, Deliveroo has nearly 6,000 grocery sites live across major partners as well as smaller independents. That number is an increase of more than two-thirds compared to the end of 2020. Coverage has reached 76% of the UK population with major grocery partners including Waitrose, Co-op, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s. The figure is up from 36% at the end of Q1 2020.

Internationally, Deliveroo now has almost 6,000 partner sites live with continued rollout with key grocery partners, such as Carrefour in France, Italy, and Belgium, Casino in France, and Park N Shop in Hong Kong.

The company is now a leader in the on-demand grocery sector and in the second half of 2021 its grocery business reached a total of 8% of total gross transaction value. That compares to 6% in the same period in 2020.

In September 2021, the company announced the launch of a new rapid grocery delivery service. ‘Deliveroo Hop’ which operates from delivery-only grocery stores, enabling deliveries in as little as 10 minutes as well as greater inventory accuracy. The first Hop stores were established in London in partnership with Morrisons but since the end of 2021 further Hop partnerships have been launched in the UK with Waitrose and in Italy with Carrefour.

The first delivery-only store in partnership with Waitrose will open in Bermondsey later this year and allow shoppers to use the Deliveroo app to choose from more than 1,000 Waitrose lines. Deliveroo company says it is focussing on driving higher basket sites and improving selection and inventory management within its grocery business.
